| In the scenic hills of Southern Iowa lies one Amish community near Drakesville, Iowa in Davis county. Located 7 miles northwest of Bloomfield, Drakesville at one time was a thriving community. Like many small towns, the population dwindled as businesses found it hard to compete with the large chain stores. Recently, Drakesville has experienced a growth in both business and population. Much of this is due to many of the Amish either moving into the area, or not leaving as they grow. There have also been new businesses that have started, see Amish Corners : www.AmishCorners.com | Pictured at left, G Brad McKee with Jesse. He owns and operates Amish Corners, A Unique Gift Store on the Oval in
Metropolitan Drakesville. They carry Amish made furniture, baskets, Gifts
and Crafts, books about the Amish as well as Bells and
Sleighbells. See : Amish Corners - www.AmishCorners.com |

Drakesville, Iowa is also home to one of two log cabins built by the Mormons. The Mormon trail passed through Davis County, and the cabin still stands in the Drakesville City Park. See: Iowa Mormon Trails Click Here For A Map | |
